Do You Fear The Wind? By H.Garland

Do you fear the force of the wind,
The slash of the rain?
Go face them and fight them,
Be savage again.
Go hungry and cold like the wolf,
Go wade like the crain:
The palms of your hands will thicken,
The skin of your cheek will tan,
You'll grow ragged and weary and swarthy,
But you'll walk like the man!

The Invitation. By P.B.Shelley.

Away, away, from men and towns,
To the wild woods, and the downs -
To the silent wilderness
Where the soul needs not repress

Its music, lest it should not find
An echo in another's mind,
While the touch of Nature's art
Harmonizes heart to heart.

THE CROCODILE by Roald Dahl

No animal is half so vile
As Crocky-Wock the crocodile.
On Saturdays he likes to crunch
Six juicy children for his lunch,
And he especially enjoys
Just three of each, three girls, three boys.
He smears the boys (to make them hot)
With mustard from the mustard pot.
But mustard doesn't go with girls,
It tastes all wrong with plaits and curls.
With them, what goes extremely well
Is butterscotch and caramel.
It's such a super marvellous treat
When boys are hot and girls are sweet.
At least that's Crocky's point of view.
He ought to know. He's had a few.
That's all for now. It's time for bed
Lie down and rest your sleepy head...
Ssh! Listen! What is that I hear
Gallumphing softly up the stair?
Go lock the door and fetch my gun!
Go on, child, hurry! Quickly, run!
No, stop! Stand back! He's coming in!
Oh, look, thats greasy greenish skin!
The shining teeth, the greedy smile!
It's CROCKY-WOCK, THE CROCODILE!

from Dr.Seuss's "Fox in Socks"
Who comes? Crow comes.
Slow Joe Crow comes.
Who sews crow's clothes?
Sue sews crow's clothes
Slow Joe Crow sews whose clothes? Sue's clothes
Sue sews rose on Slow Joe Crow's clothes.
Fox sews rose on Slow Joe Crow's nose.
Hose goes. Rose grows.
Nose hose goes some.
Crow's rose grows some.

Rudyard Kipling's Verse
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream-and not make dreams your master;
If you can think-and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings-nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And-which is more-you'll be a Man, my son!

But man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated.

E.E.Cummings

I carry your heart with me
I carry it in my heart
I am never without it
Anywhere I go, you go, my Dear
And whatewer is done by only me
Is your doing, my darling
I fear no fate
For you are my fate, my sweet
I want no world, for, beatiful
You are my world, my true
Here is the the deepestsecret no one knows
Here is the root of the root,
And the bud of the bud
And the sky of the sky
Of a tree called life
Which grows higher
Than the soul can hope
Or mind can hide
Is the wonder
That's keeping the stars apart
I carry your heart
I carry it in my heart...
