В нашем случае "Yes" и "No". Естественно, все вопросы должны быть на английском языке.

Ой, я думала, что Вы тогда спрашивали насчет "a good friend of his"

His name became common though he himself usually says that he doesn't possess the quality it (I mean his name) is used for.

A man? A woman? (presumably no) A real man? A fictional character ? Of the book? of the film?
Earnest perhaps? (presumably no) smile

Yes. Presumably no. Yes. So all the rest - no.
Quote (sorciere)
Earnest perhaps?

I'd like to think he was earnest saying that - anyway it sounded so.

Actually I meant a fictional character from Wilde's play, whose name was Earnest Worthing if I am not mistaken

Yes, thanks God! No. No. No. In general - yes. Not really - just a bit because of his status. No.

Oh! I see! The character real name was Jack Worthing, he was pretending he had a wastrel brother named Ernest in London. He was acting as Ernest while visiting London.

Cheers for reminding. smile That is actually one of my favourite plays. And the phrase
Quote (sorciere)
if I am not mistaken
does not necessarily mean that a person is not aware of something wink
Quote (Sheeee)
In general - yes. Not really - just a bit because of his status.

In general? And in particular? Does he have any profession? Or is he jobless?
What sphere does he specialize in? Politics? Economy? Religion?
Is he advanced in years? Young? Middle-aged?

Yes. Yes. Certainly, he has a profession. Well, about jobless - you can never say that for sure about men of art :). They can work hard for several months and then have a year or two for holidays. Sphere - cinema. And he is "advanced in years". I may even say he is a "live legend".

Is he an actor? Yes, he is an actor! As far as I know he was only a producer for several films but never directed any. No, he rejected a suggestion to work in America in the very beginning of his career. He is from other country - you haven't mention it. I'm not really sure of where he lives nowdays - anyway it can be his native country or the country neighbouring to it.

Is he Russian? From Western Europe? From Central Europe? From Eastern Europe? From Asia? From Latin America?

Let me slur the "yes-no" chain - our hero is from Central Europe.
